AED has been awarded the USAID-funded Malaria Action Program for States (MAPS) project designed to support the Nigeria National Malaria Strategic Plan and National MAlaria Control Program (NMCP). The project will increase the quality, access, and uptake of specific malaria control interventions, including insecticide-treated nets (ITNs), artemisinin-based combination therapies (ACTs), expanded use of rapid diagnostic tests (RDs), and delivery of intermittent preventive treatment (IPTp) to pregnant women.

AED Nigeria is currently recruiting candidates to fill a number of exciting positions with the Malaria Action Program for States (MAPS) Project in Abuja as well as state offices in Zamfara, Cross River, and Nassarawa. Available positions include:
Management and Monitoring and Evaluation Capacity Building Advisor/Officer
The Management and Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Capacity Building Advisor will design, implement, monitor, and evaluate initiatives to build management capacity—primarily with the Nigerian State Ministries of Health and LGAs; and will also work with other MAPS staff to improve state capacity to monitor and evaluate malaria interventions.


Essential Job Functions

1. Collaborate with the Implementation Team Leader, State Program Coordinator, and MAPS M&E Manager to assess the current strengths and opportunities for local capacity building in malaria interventions.
2. Develop capacity building strategies to bolster the overall management of local governments and organizations, addressing issues of resource allocation, financial management, systems, and human capacity, among other priority areas.
3. Work to strengthen linkages between health facilities and communities, focusing on improved communication, advocacy, and support of community activities and referrals.
4. Work with State and LGO authorities as well as other stakeholders to ensure that clear malaria control policies and strategies are established and aligned.
5. Strengthen and work to unify monitoring and evaluation systems at the local level.
6. Assist with policy and regulatory issues, helping to create an enabling environment for effective malaria programming.
7. Contribute to work plans, budgets, pipelines, technical reports, and deliverables.
8. Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.

Experience

1. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Health Policy, Planning, and Financing; Public Health; Business Management, or a relevant field. Master's Degree preferred.
2. Prior experience working in a capacity building environment.
3. At least ten years of experience working in public health arena.
4. Practical experience in management and organization and the Nigerian health system.

Specific Knowledge Requirements

1. Demonstrable knowledge of strategic planning, health financing, policy analysis/development, workload analysis, and economic evaluation.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
2. Ability to multi-task and oversee a number of ongoing activities.
3. Excellent communication and networking skills.
4. Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation procedures.

Job Title: Crane Mechanic – APM Terminals, Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Perform scheduled maintenance and unscheduled breakdown maintenance on equipment assigned to Crane Section for maintenance.
• Receive and execute instructions and decisions from the Crane Maintenance Foreman;
• Advise Crane Maintenance Foreman on concerns relating to unreliable equipment;
• Provide Work Order planning information as required to Maintenance Planner or Foreman;
• Perform maintenance activities on a daily/weekly/monthly basis;
• Troubleshoot and effect repairs on mechanical components and hydraulic circuits, control systems, tires and some electrical component elements. This includes the modification of components and servicing techniques in conjunction with the Crane Maintenance Foreman to improve efficiency;
• Service, repair, deploy, remove and stow away equipment as required using safe driving techniques and safe parking procedures;
• Execute maintenance schedule as directed by Crane Maintenance Foreman;
• Identify components to be overhauled;
• Provide correct information on Work Orders and other job documentation, ensuring an accurate record of work performed, time taken to complete work, spare parts and materials used etc;

CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• B B.Eng/B.Sc/HND/Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Electronic Engineering from recognized institution. Any additional training in both mechanical/hydraulic fields in any heavy industries is an advantage.
• Requires at least two to three years of experience in crane maintenance section in any ports, mines, steel or manufacturing plants, including specific knowledge of mechanical/hydraulic and related subjects.
• Requires specific technical knowledge in the maintenance and repair of quay cranes, rubber tyred gantry cranes & spreaders.
• Must be able to replace/repair/adjust major mechanical/hydraulic parts such as brakes, wire-ropes, trolley, gantry wheels, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, couplings, and so forth.
• Requires a good knowledge of repairs for cranes and RTGs & spreaders.
• Requires ability to interpret mechanical/hydraulic diagrams, service & parts manuals.
• Requires the ability to follow instructions & plan the work day

•Report project costs on weekly and monthly basis
•Verify Payment requests for certification of work done
•Track and report on all CPG assets and facilities projects
•Ensure proper accounting principles are applied in the documentation of projects
•Follow up on all suppliers invoice processing queries to ensure prompt resolution
•Interface with Vendors on financial reconciliation of accounts
•Validate payment certificate validation into bill quantities
•Ensure delivery receipts are obtained for all PO’s raised and matched to invoices before sending them to finance expenditure for final payment
•Perform other duties as assigned by the CPG Financial Operations Manager

REPORTING TO: CPG Financial Operations Manager

REQUIRED SKILLS:
•At least 4 years working experience in project, cost &management accounting, budgeting and variance analysis which includes
•2 years experience in a supervisory role
•Experience in telecommunications is an advantage

EMPLOYMENT STATUS: PERMANENT
Qualification: B.Sc. or HND Accounting or related area of study Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CPA) is required
